Even before the pandemic hit us, and hit us real hard, most of us already find it difficult to take a break and compose ourselves from what is happening around us. It is either we are so weak to unchain ourselves or we are just so helpless that we allow ourselves to be in this wheel, spinning and spinning like a hamster. Let’s find time to heal ourselves and normalize the importance of dealing with our mental health first before anything else. These are just simple things that we can try to squeeze in on a regular basis just for us to take a break from everything, breathe and restart.
Find some alone time. A quiet time when you spend a few minutes just being in that moment with no one else but yourself.
Allow yourself to slow down. Do not rush and think of deadlines, errands and to do lists. Just be in that moment where you stand or sit still. Inhale and exhale. Be lazy and even blank for a few minutes and feel as light as possible.
Lastly, if you feel like not talking to anyone for as long as you want, do it. Oftentimes, taking time to do nothing brings everything into perspective.
We have to disconnect so we can reconnect.
